I spotted Made’s chickens before I spotted him, with his striking eagle tattoo. He lives in Balian Village, down a steep narrow lane off the road to the beach in South West Bali.

He was happy to take his prized chicken from the coup, remove his top, and walk up the path 100 meters where the rainy light was better so I could photograph him.

His English was 100% better than my Balinese. I asked what job he had ...

“I no job, just stay here with my 2 kids and wife”.
His grin was big.

“My friend in Ubud did the tattoo”.
