I’m John Crawford, a New Zealand photographic artist with a long-standing fascination for light — how it falls, how it reveals, how it transforms ordinary moments into something quiet and meaningful.

My work is centred on simplicity and emotion. I create images that invite pause — photographs that feel calm, honest, and gently expressive. Each piece is crafted to offer a sense of balance and presence, something that settles into a space rather than overwhelms it.

I believe art should make people feel something real, even if it’s subtle: a shift in perception, a moment of reflection, a sense of stillness. If one of my images becomes part of a home or collection, my hope is that it continues to offer that feeling every day — a reminder to slow down and notice the beauty in the familiar.

Lily is a 1920’s Hollywood mannequin who has been my loyal unfaltering companion and friend for nigh on half a century. She is beautiful, with endearing qualities like no other, enjoys roadies and modelling. Horses are beautiful also, many have become my friends, we connect. I am a self confessed horse whisperer
